one more green thing

I just made one more green choice tonight -- refusing ATM receipts! I used to always get one, (my bank gives me the option,) but I'll start writing down ATM transactions in my planner, instead of wasting extra paper.

According to "The Green Book,"

"ATM receipts are one of the top sources of litter on the planet. If everyone in the United States left their receipt in the machine, it would save a roll of paper more than two billion feet long, or enough to circle the equator fifteen times."

I think Kermit might have been wrong -- it is actually quite easy bein' green!

Isn't that statistic amazing?! It was enough for me--I stopped with the ATM receipts after reading that too!

I would caution you about this... recently, my bank lost a deposit to the tune of 1600 bucks.. and they only way I could "prove" it was from my receipt... if I hadn't had one I would have had to go through a very long, drawn out process...

Oooo! Sweet & sour tofu! I want some of this. I have a Betty Crocker cookbook that I've had for almost 20 years. I got it when I was a meat eater and I have found that so many of the recipes are easy to vegetize. I keep going back to it over & over. It's one of my favorite cookbooks.
I always worry about what Melody wrote about. I get a receipt if I make a deposit. I don't really use the bank machine much. I usually get cash back from the grocery store. Saves me a trip (and the ATM paper!)
