yukkity yukkity yukkity!

We ate at "Old Country Buffet" with my grandparents today for lunch. It was pretty freaky. (Skirting a bunch of severely overweight people while trying to find vegan options was pretty interesting.) I stuck to the salad bar, which was actually okay, (they had chickpeas and sunflower seeds, and oil and vinegar as a dressing choice,) and also had some terribly overcooked white pasta with a basic red marinara.

I just hate chain restaurants.

LOL, I have the same problem sometimes eating dinner with my family.

I'm not a fan of chain restaurants either. One of my friends coined a new word to describe people that love to eat at restaurant chains. ---Chainies

I hate chains too. And I can only imagine the people dining there and how often they do and how many times they make return trips to the "salad" bar, when they are probably getting everything *but* salads. I went to Old Country Buffet when I was a kid (my dad made me) and I remember just eating ice cream. Probably about 3 bowls!

I hope you get some real good food soon. Also, have you noticed the *talk* of your cookbook around other blogs?!

i hate restaurant buffets! they gross me out in so many ways... but i understand, it's hard to please different syles of eaters & that was probably the best route with family - was it nice to spend some time with your grandparents? i can't wait to see what you cook when you get home! :o) i just came over to link you on my latest receipe testing...

Oooh...OCB, huh? I dislike buffets and we avoid them as a general rule. However, there's always those outings you can't avoid like Grandma's birthday or a good-bye lunch for a co-worker.

Although you can typically tell the "regulars" from the "non-regulars", I try to assume that not everyone wants to be there deep down inside. Maybe it was the way they were raised or maybe it's the people they hang out with that makes it okay for them. Then again, maybe I'm living in a dream world and everyone loves to eat tons and be unhealthy :) Who knows!

Thanks for sharing your experiences!!

Hi there
I'm Teddy and I found you via Kaivegan and Leslie (eatpeaceplease).
Looks like everyone's been testing your recipes and I have to admit, I'm a bit jealous! : )

You're doing a great job. I'll stop by again later too.

And eating out at buffets = not so tastey (to say the least) Someone should make a VEGAN/Veggie buffet. what a great idea haha
Have a nice weekend!
