Midweek Munchies

example

All I have for you is a question this week, because it's been too hot to cook and I haven't been able to go grocery shopping due to lack of fundage. (I get paid in two days, though!)

Question of the Week:

If you were forced to choose only five meals to eat for the rest of your life, which five meals would they be? (Three courses plus a dessert, beverages, etc.)

Visit Harmonia for more info on Midweek Munchies.

I'd send you something for food if I could, since I can't I'll tell you my five life food choices.

I'm a simple meal gal, I don't know what a three course meal is. Is it appetizer, soup/salad, entree, dessert, beverage?
1)
Lentil stew and sourdough garlic bread (toasted crispy). I'd use my bread to dip into my lentil stew. I'd eat my desert an hour or more after... warm apple crisp with a dallop of vanilla soy icecream with a cup of hazelnut flavored coffee.
2)
Personal pita pizza, with vegan cheese, black olives, green pepper, TVP (sausage flavored) and extra sauce to dip my slice in.
I rarely have a beverage other than water with a meal, but often follow it up with a coffee or herbal tea. A med size salad on the side, a frozen peach nutmeg smoothie made with silken tofu and stevia to finish.
3)
Monthly madness: Sweet and very chocolate oatmeal made with currants, banana scream (frozen banana pureed with a little vanilla soymilk and sweetened - just like icecream), topped with a sprinkle carob crunch granola. Serves with a hot coffee or double do it with a hot chocolate soymilk.
4) I am coming back the basic soup and bread thing. I love soup. In the summer large salads and cold herbal teas. I could eat like that forever. I also love fruit desserts or muffins topped with sweetened/seasoned tofu cream cheese. I choose another variation of this for #5 also.

Glad you get paid in a couple of days... hope the cupboards aren't bare.

Ooh, great question.
#1 Dessert would be ice cream.
#1 beverage would be water.
#1 meal: falafel with baba and hummus and pita (or is that 3 in 1?)
#2 meal: firm tofu with chile peanut sauce over rice or quinoa
#3 meal: chocolate chip banana pancakes with blueberry syrup

I could eat all of these in one meal, by the way! Just joking.

Hey Dori! I'm a soup nerd, too -- give me a bowl of really good soup, and I'm pretty happy. My cupboards aren't bare -- I just have no produce! One orange, a little broccoli, and that's it. Fortunately, I eat lunch at work, so I've loaded up on produce there the last couple of days. :)

Leslie . . . you are a sugar monster, aren't you? Chocolate chip banana pancakes? Whew. Throw a little peanut butter on those, and you've got enough energy for a week!

I'm still mulling over my top five meals -- I'll post when I have them all straightened out!

Hmmm fives meals homemade or ordered out? I'll stick to homemade:

1) Fire roasted tomatoes with garlic, olive oil and spinach over penne

2) Breaded Tofu parmiagiana with stuffed mushrooms.

3) Dessert - something chocolate and peanut butter layered - like Dreena's bars!

4) Creme brulee (not vegan but this is a dream here)

5) Falafel wrap with tahini and hummus and fresh baked pita bread

Oh yeah, almond butter on those pancakes is amazing! I posted about that way back in Feb. And yes, I can eat almost anything sweet (vegan and real of course).

This might not be a comprehensive list, but these are my top 5 meals, in no particular order:

1. wholegrain toast with margarine, soy yogurt with fresh fruit, and black coffee
2. stir-fried veggies and some protein type thing over soba noodles with iced tea and soy ice cream for dessert
3. barbecued tofu, steamed edamame tossed with margarine and salt, sweet potato fries, and tater tots, with OJ and chocolate chip pecan cookies for dessert
4. a giant salad full of yummy veggies and other good stuff, pita with hummus, and an iced soy hazelnut latte for bev/dessert
5. soup (either black bean chili, my recipe for chickpea noodle, or PPK's French Lentil,) sourdough bread, and strawberry shortcake for dessert.

Man, it was hard limiting myself to five choices! I defiinitely left out some favorites, but I had to include at least one breakfast. :) And I think I could eat toast every day for the rest of my life!
