I just signed up for a workshop titled "Selling and Publishing Your Book" at the Loft! (The workshop itself isn't until July -- that's a long time to wait!) Regardless, I feel like I'm making some headway! Perhaps this will give me the push I need to keep working on the manuscript?

I'm so excited for you. The class sounds great! I went to the Indie Film Gala at Rossi's on Monday - I won 6 writing classes in the silent auction. I'm not sure where the classes are, but I'll let you know how they are. All my writing experience has been business writing, so it will be good to focus on something else.
Great! We can push you along if you'd like...
What do you want to have accomplished on your manuscript by the time you are sitting at the Loft?!
Well, honestly, I'd like to have a full draft of the manuscript ready to take with me -- the recipes might not be quite perfect yet, but I'd like to have the whole thing typed/mapped out/laid out/what have you. I know that it's going to take a long time to test the recipes, so I don't anticipate having it ready to go to the printers any time soon. But, Dreena recommended I start sending proposals to publishers long before I finish the manuscript, because they often take a long time to review and make decisions about manuscripts. I'm excited to learn what the class says about writing proposals and manuscripts!
Whoo hoo. Very cool. I wish I could go with you.
Yeah! You go girl! When it comes out I'd like to order a signed copy. I bought a cookbook at a garage sale that was signed once other than that I have no signed books. I thought your mention of a signed book was a neat thing when I read through your list of cookbooks.
Megan, doesn't that sound cool? I didn't even know this place existed until friends of mine said, "um, why aren't you checking out workshops at the Loft?" :)
Dori, I have to say, meeting Alton Brown was really awesome! He was super-funny during the "reading" -- it was like a one-man comedy sketch! Then, he met with each person individually for about a minute, snapped as many pictures as people wanted, and signed books. The thing that I found so nice was when each person walked up for their turn he stuck his hand out and said, "Hi! I'm Alton. Thanks for coming." (Like we didn't know who he was! It made him seem like a regular guy, though. Which I assume he is!)
And, you're welcome to purchasing a signed copy -- all of my recipe testers are!
